entertainment platform to all in one media centre, design platform and news service, why we've changed
When we launched in 2022, our idea was small on purpose. charliethekid began as a minimal entertainment platform—just something simple that could play music, do it well, and stay out of the way. We weren’t trying to reinvent the internet or change how people lived their lives. We just wanted to create something enjoyable, something that made sense.
But naturally, we started dreaming bigger. We launched charliethekid Pro with the hope that expanding our platform would bring more value to our users. We added features, polished up the look, tried to scale the experience. It was bold. It was exciting. And honestly? It completely flopped. We lost millions of users almost overnight. We learned the hard way that not every leap forward is a step in the right direction. And when that happens, the only thing you can do is stop, breathe, and rethink everything.
So we did.
We stripped things back, returned to the basics, and asked ourselves: what do people actually want? What do we actually want to build? That led us to experiment with new ideas—most notably, introducing review functionality, community feedback features, and more flexible tools to engage with content. It wasn’t a silver bullet, and it didn’t instantly revive our numbers. But it wasn’t a failure either. It was something better: a process. A turning point.
Every misstep gave us clarity. And through that, we found direction.
Today, charliethekid is something completely different. We've rebuilt it from the ground up with a redesigned interface, thoughtful features, and a renewed commitment to doing things with purpose. It’s more than music now—it’s a creative space, a platform that listens and evolves. And it exists because we made the choice to learn, not give up.
So if you’ve been here from the start: thank you. If you’re new: welcome. We’ve come a long way, and we’re just getting started.
